Innovative Justice School

From October 13 to 15, 2023, "Innovative Justice School" took place in Kachreti, organized by the TSU Faculty of Law and the USAID Rule of Law Program.

 

Twenty-six undergraduate and graduate law students from 10 different Georgian universities participated in the school, where they deepened their knowledge in the field of innovative justice.

 

The Deputy Dean of the TSU Faculty of Law, Giorgi Dgebuadze and the Chief of Party of the USAID Rule of Law Program welcomed to the participants of the "Innovative Justice School". As part of the project, the academic staff of the TSU Faculty of Law - Associate Professor Dr. Giorgi Dgebuadze; Associate Professor Dr. Moris Shalikashvili; Associate Professor Dr. Sergi Jorbenadze; TSU Law Faculty Member and Lecturer Dr. Candidate Marika Turava along with representatives from the USAID Rule of Law Program - Australian Advisor on Community Engagement Tim Bunjevac; Community Engagement Coordinator Mariam Gobronidze; and ADR Advisor Irakli Gelovani presented reports. Additionally, participants in the school also included Daniel Pugh - Director of the Judicial Education and Leadership Program at the Center for Justice Innovation; Sruthi Naraharisetti - senior researcher at the same organization; and Anne McKeig - US Minnesota State Supreme Court Justice.

 

Various topics were discussed during the school, including the role of legal education in innovative justice, alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, restorative justice, hybrid jurisdiction, the impact of technology on law, and innovations in court governance and management.

 

The "Innovative Justice School" was organized by the Deputy Dean of the TSU Faculty of Law, Associate Professor Dr. Giorgi Dgebuadze; TSU Law Faculty Member and Lecturer Dr. Candidate Marika Turava; Australian advisor on Community Engagement Tim Bunjevac from the USAID Rule of Law Program, and Mariam Gobronidze - Community Engagement Coordinator from the same Program.

 

The TSU Faculty of Law intends to host future editions of the "Innovative Justice School" and engage in various collaborative projects as part of its ongoing partnership with the USAID Rule of Law Program.
